Gosforth Winter Beer Fest notes…

so the time has come again to write up some of the awesome local ales available at the gossy winter beer fest.. I love ale festivals. The gutting thing is you’ll probably find some ale that’s fantastic and only sold in some small town miles and miles away, but just the chance to taste them all is good enough for me.. here’s my highlights ( measured by the highly scientific ‘could happily drink n pints of it in a night’ scale:

Goddards ‘Scrumdiggity’- favourite of the night for me, easy to drink yet full of flavour- 6+. only beer I had two glasses of.

Magpie ‘Drop of Gold’ – light, tasty subtle beer- ideal palette cleanser, 5-6

Purity ‘Pure Gold’ – again, light, refreshing-a good ‘in between’ ale, 4+

Downton ‘Quadhop’ – tasty, complex flavour – 3 would be enough

Grafton ‘Moon Frost’ – again, tasty- not what I’d choose to drink all night but a soild 2 pinter

Hecks ‘Blakeney Red Perry’ – pear cider, *very sweet* but quite delicious. I’m going to say 2 pints but not one after the other, it’d be too sweet. but I’d come back to it for another.

finally, theres Anarchy ‘Sublime Chaos’ – aptly named, it’s 7% and you can taste it. it’s listed as ‘breakfast stout infused with coffee’- and while it does have strong coffee notes and a powerful aftertaste, it does grow on you- I would only go for one pint of it though and that would be enough. Would recommend giving it a go though 🙂

That’s all for now! sometimes when the weather’s cold and the rain is pouring it sucks to live in England, but ale festivals are a little treat we get for putting up with all that 🙂
